Stations, Virginia Tech welcomed police K-9 officers and their dogs, along with special guests and members of the general public, to the dedication of a memorial statue that honors the role of police dogs in Virginia.

The dedication ceremony took place on Friday, October 16, 2009 on the campus of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, and the statue is installed near the entrance to the vet school.

Officers from across the state listened to comments from Virginia Attorney General Bill Mims and Virginia Tech President Charles Steger (STEE-gur).  Sculptor Larry Bechtel (BECK-tul) was also present.
